Powerhouse
A video and photographic production company has recently breathed new life into an empty television studio which had lost its Heartbeat.
Powerhouse has drastically expanded their studio facilities having taken over the historic Sunnybank Mills in Farsley, Leeds. The 170 year old premises had remained vacant since the long running Yorkshire television drama ceased filming there 2 years ago. Prior to that, the studio was home to Emmerdale and was also used for A Touch of Frost.
Powerhouse's roots in highly creative stills photography, brings a host of benefits for it's video production clients.
Managing Director Neil Adams commented, "The recession has seen a lot of production companies scale back to the bare essentials, meaning they are heavily reliant on outsourcing for many aspects of the production".
"The stills side of the business provides a 9000 sq ft studio, set building, lighting, camera's and crew in-house, which enables us to keep our costs down"
"We are also very critical of the creative aspects of a production. Through our photographers eyes (or DOP eyes now) we aim to produce stunning visual footage, whatever the budget or project, which has been a welcome surprise for our clients"
The move into video production two years ago was spurred on award success.
Neil added: "Our creative director Tony (Tony Lendill) has always had a passion for film, so with the popularity of the DSLR's for video, he ‘gave it a go' and shot a music video."
"To our surprise, it was so well received, it picked up two awards including a prestigious Canon Open Shutter award in Soho. We also got some great encouragement from fellow competitor Charles Sturridge who picked up an award for The Road to Coronation Street, and Stephen Gash, MD of Qi Commercial, the company behind Tv show QI."
Powerhouse work predominantly in the corporate and commercial sector for clients such as Morrisons, Asda, Taylors of Harrogate and many leading advertising agencies.
